Food For Thought
Just by looking at this pic, can you tell if it’s an actual photograph or an image gererated by an artistically-inclined machine? Look closely.
What did you look at first? The fish? Cheese? Fork? Greens? Plate? Seasoning on the fish? The table?
Are you more hungry now than before you opened this post? What’s in your refrigerator right now that you feel like eating?
What about chocolate? There’s none in the pic however if there’s chocolate nearby do you feel like having a little piece right now?
Will you get some outdoor exercise today? Go for a walk to burn some calories instead of scooping a few spoons of ice cream from the freezer?
Why are we more hungry for chocolate and ice cream right now, than for a bowl of fresh greens and baked fish?
Before opening this post, were you thinking about chocolate or ice cream?
Ask a friend if the image looks real or AI-generated, if has the same effect on them.
Next, ask yourself if it matters at all whether a human or computer generated the image. What matters is how the image makes one feel. The intent of the human presenting the image is what matters, its origin doesn’t.
Innovators have goals. Humans teamup to achieve goals. Knowing who has what intent probably accelerates innovation. Tell us your intents, ultimately, such could provide the species a pleasant externality — more time for appreciating chocolate and ice cream.
